Sergey Gugkaev is a prominent figure in the space industry with professional focus on commercial space, space sustainability, international cooperation, in-orbit services, satellites and launchers. He started his professional career in corporate finance, holding several positions with increasing responsibilities.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Sea Launch, a multinational satellite launch US-Russian-Ukrainian-Norwegian consortium, Sergey successfully guided the group through a pivotal post-restructuring phase, leading the company to execute five prosperous launches and a successful sale of the business to a new investor. Following that, in his capacity of the Chief Commercial Officer of ClearSpace Sergey oversaw business development and commercial strategy of the company, working in close collaboration with private and institutional partners, promoting sustainable and responsible behavior in space.
Sergey's academic credentials include an MBA in Management of Technology from the distinguished Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and a Master’s degree in Law from Moscow State University.

Dr. Nico Spyropoulos is a commercial-space executive with nearly 30 years across satellite and high-altitude balloon ventures, including Space Imaging (Lockheed Martin), UrtheCast, World View, BlackSky and EarthDaily. He applies satellite imaging and communications to community development, guided by a belief in the transformative power of human spaceflight. Known for turning R&D into profitable, self-sustaining services, he contributed to the object-oriented image analysis team led by Nobel laureate Prof. Gerd Binnig, helping take breakthroughs to market.
He has led Earth Observation and SatCom programs across the Americas, EMEA and Southeast Asia, including EU and ESA initiatives (TELEMATICS, ACTS, ESPRIT, ARTES, H2020), managing teams of 75+ on missions spanning environment, geospatial intelligence, security and advanced information systems. Operating under FCPA/ITAR with NATO C-M(2002)49 clearance, he delivers defense, security and space-based R&D solutions and champions space democratization through travel and science engagement.
Dr. Spyropoulos holds BSc/MSc degrees in Land Reclamation (Athens), an MSc and Diploma in Remote Sensing (UCL/Imperial), and a PhD in Remote Sensing (Athens), and has taught at the University of Athens and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
